Serenity Mountain Retreat - SMR to us - is a family-oriented, rustic, nudist retreat founded in 1933. It is the oldest nudist club west of the Mississippi. We are located 2,000 ft. up in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains near Estacada, Oregon, close to the Mount Hood National Forest. SMR offers a touch of unspoiled wilderness combined with some of the features of modern campgrounds. We don't have a swimming pool, a lavish hotel, or even paved roads, but we do have 19 acres of some of the most beautiful, rustic, natural, wooded property nature has to offer. When we say rustic we just mean that we are quite a ways off the beaten path so the natural beauty is still here.  We do have a good old-fashioned outhouse but also restrooms with flush toilets, shower house, a lodge with bedrooms for rent, kitchen facilities, lots of things to do (see the Amenities page), and even limited WiFi for your convenience.  Rustic and modern combined for the very best of times.

SMR is a safe, friendly, place, so bring the whole family. We are open year round. Our elevation affords us pleasant summers and generally cooler winters with occasional snow. The camping and RV sites offer cooling shade in the summer and protection from the wind and snow in the winter.

We are cooperatively held and operated, so things happen more casually here than they do in a privately operated, for-profit resort. We do hope that you will enjoy the informality.  No food is available on site except during special events such as our Annual Music Festival in August. (Check it out here)  Fresh, clean drinking water from our mountain well is plentiful and groceries are 15-20 minutes away in Estacada. There is a BBQ and limited kitchen facilities anyone can use and a full kitchen for lodge guests.

We host social events and meetings monthly and are available for quieter enjoyment most other times. Guests, whether they have anything to share or not, are always welcome to join the potluck every Saturday night when there are enough people in camp, which is almost always. Cell phone service is sometimes iffy this high up in the hills, but we do have a land line for emergency use.
